Monoammonium Glycyrrhizate


There are two types of Monoammonium Glycyrrhizate (GMA) on the market: GMA FOOD GRADE (GLYCYRRHIZIC ACID content ≥ 95%) and GMA PHARMA (GLYCYRRHIZIC ACID content ≥ 98%) for the food and beverage market and the pharmaceutical market respectively.

Product information:
Our GMA is obtained from licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) by extraction and purification methods.
It is a mixture of ammonium 18α- and 18β-glycyrrhizate (ammonium salt of (20b) -3beta- [[2-O- (β-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid) -α-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid] -α-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid] oxy] -11-oxoolean-12-en-29-oic acid), with the 18beta isomer being the main component.
Ammonium glycyrrhizate is in accordance with the current monograph “1772: Ammonium glycyrrhizate” of the European Pharmacopoeia with a content of 98.0 to 102.0% (anhydrous substance).

white to off-white powder, hydroscopic.
- Solubility: slightly soluble in water (soluble in hot water). Very slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol, practically insoluble in acetone. Soluble in hydro-alcoholic mixtures, glycerin, and propylene glycol. Not soluble in oily phases (caprylic/capric triglycerides).

Dipotassium glycyrrhizate
